High-quality density board enriches your home decoration

High-quality density board enriches your home decoration

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), whose full name is density fiberboard, is a type of board made from wood fibers or other plant fibers as raw materials. It is produced through fiber preparation, application of synthetic resin, and pressing under heating and pressure conditions.

According to its density, it can be divided into high-density fiberboard, medium-density fiberboard, and low-density fiberboard. Among them, the nominal density range of medium-density fiberboard is 650Kg/m³ - 800Kg/m³.

Due to its uniform structure, fine texture, stable performance, impact resistance, and ease of processing, MDF is widely used in domestic furniture, decoration, musical instruments, and packaging.

What kind of board is MDF?

What kind of board is MDF? MDF is a type of board made from wood or other fibrous materials. It is characterized by uniform density, high strength, wear resistance, water resistance, corrosion resistance, and ease of processing. The manufacturing process of MDF involves multiple steps such as cutting, crushing, cooking, drying, grinding, mixing, and pressing wood or other fibrous materials.

The main raw material of MDF is wood, but other fibrous materials such as bamboo, reeds, and hemp can also be used. During the production process, these raw materials are cut into small pieces, then subjected to cooking and drying to minimize their moisture content. Next, these wood pieces are ground into fine powder, which is then mixed with glue to form a dough-like substance. Finally, this substance is pressed into boards, which are then dried and trimmed to become MDF.

The advantages of MDF are very obvious. Firstly, it has uniform density, high strength, and is not easily deformed, so it can be used to make various furniture, floors, wall panels, etc.

Of course, MDF also has some disadvantages. Firstly, its environmental friendliness is not as good as that of solid wood boards because chemicals such as glue are used in the production process.

Differences between MDF and particleboard:

1. MDF is made by cutting the original wood into pieces, while particleboard is made by combining small pieces of wood.

2. The prices of the two differ significantly, with MDF being more expensive.

3. The surface of MDF is relatively flat and smooth, with stable properties and a fine texture, while the surface of particleboard is relatively rough.

4. Although the surface of particleboard is not as smooth as that of MDF, it uses less glue, so its environmental friendliness is better.

Can MDF be used?

MDF is a commonly used man-made board, mainly made of wood fibers or other plant fibers, with the following advantages:

It has a flat surface and is easy to process, so it can be used to make various furniture, decorations, and building materials.

It has a uniform material and stable internal structure, with good impact resistance and nail-holding ability.

It has good dimensional stability, is not easily deformed, and is suitable for making components that require precise dimensions.

The price is relatively low, making it suitable for middle and low-grade furniture and building decoration fields.

However, MDF also has some disadvantages:

Compared with solid wood boards, the material is relatively soft and easily damaged and deformed.

A large amount of glue is used in the production process, resulting in poor environmental friendliness and the possibility of releasing harmful gases such as formaldehyde.

The nail-holding ability is not as good as that of solid wood boards, so it is not suitable for occasions that require stable fixing.

It has poor water absorption and is prone to swelling and deformation in humid environments.

Although MDF has certain application value in decoration and furniture production, considering its environmental protection and durability issues, the following points need to be paid special attention to when using it:

Avoid using it in humid environments, such as the doorway of the bathroom, window sills, etc.

Choose MDF of relatively good quality and try to reduce the release of formaldehyde.

In the final surface treatment and painting, use environmentally friendly coatings or paints that meet the standards to reduce the rapid volatilization of harmful substances such as formaldehyde.

    Production process

The production of OSPAR boards has high requirements on raw materials and process. First of all, the raw materials need to be strictly screened to ensure that the quality and specifications of the flakes are consistent; secondly, in the gluing process, environmentally friendly adhesives (such as isocyanate adhesive MDI) are usually used, which do not contain formaldehyde and greatly enhance the environmental performance of the board;structure.

Finally, the directional paving and hot pressing process determines the structural strength of the board, and the precise control of the temperature, pressure and time, so that the planer flakes are tightly coupled with each other to form a stable board structure. The precise control of temperature and pressure and time make the planer sheets closely combine with each other to form a stable board

    Characteristics

    advantage-1-1
    High Strength and Stability
Due to the directional arrangement of the flakes, OSB has excellent strength and rigidity in the direction of force, and strong resistance to deformation. Whether it is used as a structural panel or a load-bearing part in furniture manufacturing, it can ensure good performance and is not easy to bend, break and other problems.
    advantage-2
    advantage-1-1
    Superior environmental performance
The use of MDI glue and other environmentally friendly adhesives, the formaldehyde emission of the OSPAR board is very low, and even reached the standard of non-formaldehyde grade, in line with the requirements of modern consumers for a healthy home environment, can be widely used in home decoration, children's room furniture and other environmentally friendly requirements of the higher place.
    advantage-2
    advantage-1-1
    Good moisture-proof performance
Compared with ordinary particleboard, the moisture-proof performance of OSB is significantly improved. Its special structure and adhesive enable it to maintain good dimensional stability and physical properties in humid environments, reducing deformation, swelling and other problems caused by moisture, suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and other areas with high humidity.
    advantage-2
    advantage-1-1
    Diversified decorative performance
The surface of Opal board is flat, and can be directly painted, veneered and other decorative treatments. Its unique particle texture can also create a natural, rugged decorative style, to meet the needs of personalized design, in some industrial style, Scandinavian style decoration is highly favored.
    advantage-2

    Advantages of Opal Board

    High Performance Advantage

The high strength, high stability and good moisture-proof performance of Opal Board make it far superior to ordinary particle board in terms of performance. In application scenarios that require large loads or humid environments, such as building structure panels, flooring substrates, bathroom cabinetry, etc., OSB can provide more reliable performance guarantee.

    Environmental health advantages

the use of environmentally friendly adhesives in the environmental performance of the pine panel has an outstanding advantage, can create a healthy and safe living and office environment for consumers, especially suitable for the strict requirements of environmental protection of home decoration and high-end commercial space decoration.

    Unique decorative effect

The chip texture of Opal board has unique decorative properties, which can be used as a characteristic decorative element to add a different space.
